In-Person Doula Training

Peak District 11th – 15th may | 5 Days | Limited Places | self study course included

This is a doula training for women who feel genuinely called to support birth and want to do that work with integrity.

What this training is

When Push Comes to Shove Doula Training blends deep physiological birth knowledge, advocacy skills, and inner work so you can support women with clarity, confidence, and integrity.

This is transformational training.

Who this training is for?

You do not need previous experience. You do need a willingness to engage in personal and emotional growth.

This training is for you if:

  • You feel drawn to birth work but do not resonate with the medicalised midwifery model.

  • You care deeply about women’s autonomy, informed consent, and physiological birth.

  • You want to support birth without coercion, fear, or disconnection.

  • You know that who you are matters just as much as what you know.

What makes this training different

Most doula courses teach skills.

This training teaches:
• how birth actually works when undisturbed
• how trauma, fear, and systems interfere with birth
• how to advocate calmly and effectively
• how to hold space without absorbing others’ trauma
• how to work within or outside the maternity system with confidence

And crucially: how to do the inner work required to support women safely This inner component is not optional. It is the heart of the course.

What you will leave with

Many students describe this training as life-changing, not just career-changing.

After this training, you will have:

  • A deep understanding of physiological birth
  • Confidence supporting women through labour and birth
  • The ability to advocate without escalation or fear
  • Clarity around your role as a doula or birth companion
  • A grounded sense of self when supporting others

Important to know before applying

This course requires a commitment to inner work.

You will be exploring emotional, psychological, and belief-based patterns that affect how you show up in birth spaces. This is what allows you to support women without projecting fear, control, or unresolved trauma.

If that feels aligned, you are in the right place.

About the facilitator

Nickita Starck is the founder of When Push Comes to Shove and a world-renowned birth advocate, doula trainer, and human dynamics specialist. Her work has influenced thousands of women, birth workers, and practitioners internationally, particularly in the areas of informed consent, physiological birth, and women’s autonomy within maternity care.

She is widely recognised for her ability to combine clear, evidence-based birth education with deep respect for women’s intuition, emotional safety, and lived experience. Her teaching is known for being both uncompromising in truth and deeply humane in delivery.

Nickita’s work centres on restoring trust in birth by supporting the woman first, recognising that safety, sovereignty, and inner steadiness are the foundations of transformative birth experiences.

I have never felt so empowered. This course changed the way I see birth and myself.

Participant, Student
“By accepting it’s not others that make us feel certain ways, but we do it to ourselves by reacting to the triggers, it’s enlightening, and helps to see the absurdity of how we treat and talk to ourselves.”
